In 2019 Eastwood Demolition delivered the successful demolition of Oxford & Gloucester House situated in Belfast City Centre. Oxford & Gloucester House was acquired by Wirefox Castle Property Limited in 2016 and was being redeveloped to provide Grade A office accommodation.
Oxford & Gloucester House was a challenging demolition project in the centre of Belfast. The project was made even more complex due to the structural requirements of demolishing a 7-storey building in a busy city centre location, with restricted site and adjoining other buildings.
The city centre location of the project included a busy shopping street to the North of the site – opposite Victoria Square and local authority approval was required to access the site through public roads and paths. The site also contained a live NIE high voltage substation, which feeds major office and retail buildings within the Belfast city centre area. Demolition works were designed to ensure that the structure of the substation was protected and maintained throughout the duration of works.
